Statement of Intentions

This project explores my development as both a performer and a producer through arrangement, recording, and reinterpretation. I chose to record in a studio setting while aiming to replicate the live, intimate style of Tiny Desk Concerts. In the studio, I needed more control and balance in my playing to achieve a clearer sound. The first piece is a reworked arrangement of Disney songs. This helped me think about structure, harmony, key changes, and smooth transitions between songs. For the second piece, I added my own ideas to the music. Some parts, like the piano in Section A, follow the original, but I also added drums and saxophones with these parts written by myself to give the piece a different character. After performing live in January, I wanted to try recording in a studio to learn a different way of performing, as I see myself writing and recording my own songs in the future. To further develop the Disney piece, I would re-record it with strings to create a stronger emotion.
