current state With this production I started with the drums and finding drum samples. I started with the kick then I found a snappy snare and a crisp hi hat to really help emphasise the drums before getting to any of the mixing stages this will also help cut through some of the wider sounds like the Reese bass to also give the drums the garage like feel  I have made sure to keep the groove of them very bouncy and swing the hats to really carry it along together this is also helpful as it give me basis to create the melodic elements to thew track in line with the drums . The next part of the track I worked towards was the organ carrying the main melody of the track I started with a preset organ patch then tweaked some of the sounds and added some effects Like saturation and some reverb to help shape the sound. The reasoning behind this being firstly to make the sound fitting of the genre of UK Garage and where it is in its current state. Another reason I am adapting the preset is to help proactively work on my synthesis skills so I can create my own synths but also to help me through trial and error find what parameters will cause certain changes on the synth. Finally, it is also to help me try and recreate sounds as the organ bass is now linked to UK Garage as it is a common sound in addition to this in dance music history it has always been a well know sound with a prime example be Show me love by robin s and the Bassline on that record is  arguably one of the most recognised in dance music with 314 million streams ( Spotify, May 2026).

Next, I worked on the Reese bass which with some explanation and tutorials I made a Reese bass but then firstly on s oscillator b which is a sine wave I added seven semitones to add a more developed harmonic element to the synth then I also added unison and slightly detuned them to help develop that thick and warmer texture that the Reese bass has typically. I then moved on to adding the final touches before effects in the form of a noise on it just to help complete the sound and fill some space and the filer to help have that wobbly type of sound by sweeping and allowing the higher frequencies for it being a bass instrument so peaking at around 500Hz

When these parts were all created, I then had all of them as 8 bar loops and began to play around with the structure like building blocks I  will often approach using these building blocks by progressively adding  elements in to the track and much like that which is typical for the genre I will have sections arranger in 4,8,16 and 32 bar sections as the intent for the track is to be used in club settings and by DJs so the track being structure in a way that suits this is important.  I also like to use this structure to help me visualise and formulate where i will make changes which can sometimes just be taking one part out for four to eight bars or it could be utilising effects to help build that tension and suspense for what is next ultimately it need to entertain listeners Aswell and keep their interest especially as the way media and consumers are now often using  apps like Tik Tok or the reels within Instagram so maintaining and capturing their interest within that shorter space of time is important. For example, statistics say that 69% of people aged 16-24 watch short form videos daily with and even larger amount watching them weekly at 85%. (YouGov, K Shah, March 2026)  Also, people will often seek familiarity so this can fall into both the sonic elements and the types of sounds they are used to hear  and it can be similar with structure as people will often like to know when a change is coming but on the flip side the more surprise side of drops can also gain attention so it really can depend on projects I often like to give the listener a bit of what is going to change or come in but then really progressively bring it in over a short space of time.

When it came to recording the process of writing I had a singer come in and write so I played the track to her then we found some references and landed on an R&B style vocal and decided to like most tracks of this genre record very little and take it further by chopping the vocals from the original phrases and making new ones another aspect I have tried to focus on in this track is my use of effects in combination to make it unique I also  utilize these effects to help create more sections from the same vocal for example on the intro I used a separate audio track with a separate reverb that was at 100% wet so it sound purely like an echo in the background but then this works for an intro so when the normal vocal comes in it feels that bit more full and comes in with a more impact.

The reference tracks I used for this song were Now it’s gone by In Parallel

And feel the same by Silva Bumpa B starting with now your gone the inspiration from this was more in the vocal approach of less is more as the vocals are very simple in this but are still very catchy which i have tried to replicate within my own track. Then with feel the same it inspired the chorus how it is very obviously driven by the organ but works with the vocals effectively also and some of the builds and drops are similar in some respects.

This is the sampler used for all the individual part of my drums
