Take a breath Final Bounce 3

Synthesis process evidence

The role of this synth was to provide an interesting texture as well as support the guitar part.

I started by having a triangle wave and pitching it down -12 as this was supposed to provide a bass support for the guitar. Next I adjusted the filter to cut out the high end and some low end and focus putting a tight peak at -34.37 semitones, so I put the blend at 1 then moved the cutoff. This created the low bass part of the synth.

Then I added a Brown Noise wave and moved the frame nob until I found a sound I liked. I added a filter onto this synth as well. I set the blend to 0 so I could just cut out the high semitones and I put it to 1.343 semitones. This allowed me to remove some of the harsher high end which made the synth sound more smooth. Then I used LFO to give the synth some movement by setting it to move the frame on the Brown Noise oscillator. I set it to square as I wanted the switch to be harsh. I set the tempo so 1/4 so it fit neatly into the beat of the song and fit with the guitar/ copies the guitar. I didn’t change the envelope for either as I didn’t feel that it was necessary, I liked the quick attack, average hold and super short release.

I then changed the levels of each oscillator until I got to the blend I wanted.

I put this synth only in the verses as the verses (especially the first verse) were quite basic so this aded an element of complexity and makes the verse more interesting. It also adds another element of grit and danger to add emotion.
