Synthesis process evidence

(Note, I couldn’t get the images to not rotate upon adding them to show)

As part of my synthesis process I used a the features known in Ableton as ‘convert melody to new midi track’ and ‘ convert harmony to new midi track’, with the original audio tracks being the clean rhythm guitar and lead guitar used in the songs intro. I then used these on a pad preset and synth preset found within serum 2. Following this I used stock Ableton effects to do some dynamics and effects processing on them. The midi for this can be seen below.

I used effects such as delay, reverb, compression, EQ, erosion and pitch shifting to achieve my desired sound for the intro. Evidence can be seen below.

The Serum 2 presets I used can be seen below.

The Image above shows a pad I made by using a spectral synthesis and tweaking various filters until I achieved my desired sound

The synth playing the main melody of the track in the ‘chorus’ section is the only lead synth in the song that I made from scratch. I did this by using oscillator A and B both with a saw-tooth wave table, With oscillator A having a unison of 16 and B having a unison of 5. I then ran these into a chorus with a rate of 0.22Hz, a delay of 0.5ms, and a depth of 26ms. This then went into a plate reverb with length and decay both set to around the 11 o clock position. This reverb is also fairly wide to add to the ambiance. This then runs into hyper dimension to further increase the width and add more texture, which is followed by two distortions, the first being a tube distortion and the second a diode, which are both set to around 65% drive. Evidence of this can be seen below.

I then did some EQ on this synth to sculpt the sound to what would fit the section best. I also added a vibrato wobble to it to help it jump out of the mix more and let it stand out.

Below is a short video of the project running in my DAW, as requested.
