Synthesis process evidence

The DAW that I chose to use was FL Studio Mobile on my laptop. I have been using this DAW to compose for a few years now, and it is the one I know the best. I didn’t trust myself to use logic, as I am not proficient enough to produce my best work. The pro of using this was that I knew it well, but the downside was that I could not do most things with it, such as build up instruments from scratch or record them. Most of this track is used with sampled instruments, which I have tweaked to make my own.

I used a number of different synths, which all do a variety of jobs. I used 2 separate sequencers for 2 different overlapping effects which come in throughout the track, but most notably at the end. I can’t program the sequencers, so I mainly chose a sequencer which had the desired effect, and then altered how it sounded using the synth module on the DAW, and a reverb send, which I programmed in. The titles for each sampled instrument, and the Reverb send is at the top.

Another synth I chose to use is the oscillating synth, which carries a lot of the main motif. This synth uses an oscillator to play fast, repeating notes in time over the length of the note. I EQ-ed this synth to allow room for the bass the other synths which are played extended cluster chords, and the kick drums.

The Drums were also sampled from an extended sound library, but they once again were programmed in by me on 2 separate drum machines to give me more than one sound of drums for what I wanted to do. They were EQ-ed to enhance the character of the drums so they fit in with the rest of the track, giving them space for the kick and snare to come through.
