This is my attempt at Jump Preparation used to heighten, strengthen and elongate my legs during sauté (jumps) following my kick ball change travel. This exercise is fundamental to improve and develop further my work within Dance technique lessons with Shakeel. This process is sectioned into 4 segments all performed on counts of 8 with the 8th beat being the change in preparation for the next segment. Section 1 focuses on primarily warming up the toes and establishing the rhythm for the rest of the exercise. Section 2 is to focus upon warming up the ankles and all the muscles used to raise the ankle and in the back of the foot. The 3rd section, also known as ‘terre d terre’, is the full extension of the foot but trying to maintain contact with the floor through your toes. Lastly, section 4 is the previous 3 exercises put into practice as it is a full jump, with as pointed out of a toe as possible, to really stretch the feet and calves. After reflection I believe I achieved the pointing of the toe however in doing this I lost balance and my positioning was compromised. To fix this I shall practice doing the first three exercises more in-depth to strengthen my legs and allow my body to get used to the patterns used.
Below is a video of both side and front profile of me completing this exercise.
