Marking Criteria: Musicianship and Style

Statement of Intent:

This portfolio demonstrates the range of compositional and performance directions I have explored throughout my undergraduate degree at Leeds Conservatoire. I have composed all of the music in the portfolio, and played, not only the drums, but also the guitars and bass, only calling on my fellow musicians for horns and vocals. In their current form, the tracks are demos and ‘first mixes’, not mastered and ‘release-ready’ tracks. I intend to use most of the tracks as part of an album which I plan on releasing later this year.

This project has taken inspiration from a wide range of artists such as 2 Door Cinema Club, Cream, Muddy Waters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Extreme, The Beatles, and Phil Spectre. Moreover, I have specifically set out to demonstrate my versatility as a drummer/composer, performing tracks in styles ranging from Funk, Rock, Reggae, Indie, Latin, Drum Machine, Blues, Disco, and Marching Snare.
