The reason I chose this method of submission is to effectively demonstrate the breadth of my playing and the type of musician I present myself as. This portfolio consists of two contrasting projects in which I am involved, each highlighting different aspects of my musical ability and approach.
The first project, ‘Frogg’, is a six-piece progressive indie band characterised by powerfully driven sections, juxtaposed with more mellow, melodic parts. This requires a dynamic and responsive drumming style, with careful attention to changes in texture, intensity, and structure. In contrast, I have also collaborated with Holly Walsh, a singer-songwriter, where my role is to provide a suitable modern pop feel through drums and percussion. This involves a more restrained and stylistically focused approach, prioritising groove, tone, and consistency.
The contrast between these projects highlights my versatility as a musician, demonstrating my ability to adapt confidently to different musical environments. Both experiences have also allowed me a significant degree of creative freedom when constructing drum parts, enabling me to explore a range of techniques and develop my own musical identity.
