This portfolio is a showreel demonstrating my ability within a pop–jazz fusion style. I selected ‘Mushanga, Seek and You Will Find’, ‘I Keep Forgetting’, and ‘You Dream Flat Tires’ to exhibit versatility between groove centered, ‘pocket’ playing and a technical performance. Mushanga and I Keep Forgetting focus on tight and consistent parts. In these pieces, I attempted to prioritise feel and dynamic focus to support the music without overplaying. This demonstrates my ability to sit in the pocket, maintaining a strong sense of time. Seek and You Will Find and You Dream Flat Tires on the other hand, allowed me to be more flashy, employing more improvised fills and overall. My reasoning for choosing these tracks is in order to show that my playing is adaptable to various musical situations, such as if it requires restraint or not. The videos provide a clear way to express these skills for professional use, such as session work. They also reflect my technical ability as well as my attention to musicality.
