Izzy withers is a 19 year old singer songwriter from London. Her 2025 EP “Freckleface”, is a unique blend of bedroom pop and Neo-soul influence, grounded in strong storytelling and songwriting. She has amassed a following of nearly 20,000 across TikTok and Instagram, and has been consistently rolling out new singles since 2024. Her unwavering British accent plays a large role in her music, drawing inspiration from artists such as Lilly Allen and Cat Burns to create art with a sense of authenticity to her upbringing and culture. 

This is one of the reasons I have selected Izzy Withers for this show post. Her authenticity stands out in today’s diluted music industry, drawing in her target audience with relatable lyricism and sound. An example of this is in her song “Pretty Please”. She has a line “on the 149 to London Town”, referring to the 149 bus that is commonly taken to get to central London. This signposting makes her music relatable for people living in London, as they have shared this experience. Her voice helps to push her authenticity in a similar manner, her London accent helps her to stay relatable but also makes her instantly recognisable in a song, making it a clever marketing tool. 

In the last six months, her career has gained traction that I believe to be very scalable. She has landed supporting slots in reputable venues such as Jazz Cafe, as well as making appearances in popular media both as a solo artist and within the popular youth choir “Flames Collective”. These include BBC introducing, ITV, and halftime performances for the NFL. As well as this, I have selected her for this show post due to her distinctive sonic identity. Her music dips into many genres, singer songwriter, ballads, bedroom pop, soul, and RnB. This creates a unique blend that targets a large demographic while letting her remain entirely unique. It also allows for many pathways that her career could develop into, depending on the market desire at the time. 

Market Appeal

Izzy Withers has a large potential target audience due to her range in music styles. The main audience that she is reaching is young people 13-25, in England and more specifically London, with 13.5% of her Spotify monthly listeners hailing from there. This is significant considering her second most popular (Manchester) is less than 3%. All locations in the top 5 are based in the United Kingdom. Her focus on London youth culture in her lyrics helps her to capitalise in this niche, another example being her single “Lemons and Limes”, in reference to lime bikes (as seen in her album cover). Lime bikes have become a beacon in London youth culture, drawing in people that have shared this experience.

 Another factor that establishes her youthful fanbase is her sound and genre. The sound and elements in her work all come from popular genres within the 13 – 25 age range. Bedroom pop as a genre is largely based in youth culture. It describes a home-made low budget sound that could be created within your bedroom with disregard to high production industry norms. This accessibility has made bedroom pop a popular genre to create for young people, which in turn makes it popular with young people to consume. One possible downside of this genre is that it is heavily saturated with new and upcoming artists. However, her mix of genres and unique sonic identity prevent her from suffering from this market saturation. For example, her Neo soul influence aids in drawing in another audience. Artists like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill have, in the last 5 years, become very popular with the overall target audience (13 – 25 year olds)  that Izzy withers plays to. The rise of these artists and the genre as a whole helps to shine attention on her work as fans look for artists similar to the ones they love. One factor of Izzy withers that helps to differentiate her and help in her marketing is her use of social media. Her Instagram account is great proof of this. She uses Instagram very heavily, with nearly 500 posts. While this could be seen as a negative for a lot of artists, her down to earth and fun approach to social media works with her image. She utilises more casual and non-music related posts and stories, which helps her to build a rapport with her fans. Her posts remain professional yet fun, with a strong use of colours, a variety of locations and her stand out fashion. This works for her in a multitude of facets. For one, people discover her through non music related posts, her aesthetic drawing them in, which leads to them discovering her music. Alternatively, people that know her as an artist are more likely to follow and interact with her, as they remain interested with the variety of content she provides. Her music related posts gain the largest amount of interaction, for example her BBC introducing video amassing 180 comments. This is a good sign of her marketing appeal, as it shows people value her music highly, and her lifestyle content isn’t diminishing her career, but rather helping it. 

A positive example of an artist with a similar approach to social media, within the bedroom pop genre, is beabadoobee. She balances lifestyle and personal content with promotion in a way that feels authentic, and still pushes her music in a manner that doesn’t feel in your face. This proves that this style of social media is scalable and works further into a music career. 

One of the specific elements of Izzy withers social media presence that stands out is her style. She uses a palette with a focal colour of red, with use of a lot of neutral tones. She combines a variety of styles seamlessly. Formal wear such as dresses and her iconic red heels blend with street and casual wear, simple denim, oversized jumpers and jackets in a way that feels true to her, and stays eye-catching. This strong visual branding helps to keep her image consistent, memorable, and fun, and is great from a marketing perspective. Apart from Instagram, the other main platform she uses is TikTok. She utilises both very well, adapting her strategies to formulas that do well on each platform. On TikTok, where the focus is promoting yourself to new listeners within your target demographic, she focuses more on music than lifestyle. One technique that proves successful to her is covers. Her top three performing TikToks are all covers, in which she makes a point of her strong British singing accent. This helps her to stand out in the very saturated market that TikTok covers. This method works for her quantifiably, as her TikTok has amassed 850,000 likes. This is a useful metric as it indicates a large appeal, which can be converted into fans and followers of her music. 

Overall, her market appeal is very strong for an emerging artist. She has a strong brand, garners good interaction, and is growing at a strong rate. In 2025 she more than doubled her following on both TikTok and Instagram. She remains authentic while retaining a professional image which helps to gain new fans, as well as keeping her followers interested and engaged.

Song Analysis

The first song I will analyse from Izzy Withers is her most recent single “Tender Love” which was released in 2025. Tender Love sits perfectly within her style, a bedroom pop sound with elements of RnB and soul that still feels intimate and authentic. The track is smooth and easy to listen to,  with simple chords that complement her emotional vocals. The tempo is andante giving the song a consistent head swaying feel. The melody balances familiarity while remaining engaging, utilising simple phasing and repetition within verses and choruses. This makes the song easier to remember, the kind of track you catch yourself humming after a few listens. 

The instrumentation is laid back and minimal, creating focus on her voice and lyrics. She uses soft pad sounds and tasteful bass that give the song a drive.

This track has a large appeal both within her target demographic and with the average music consumer. The 13-25 age range value authenticity as well as a laid-back yet interesting feel in a song, which this is successful in bringing. Tender Love is the kind of song you would study to or listen to late night which this demographic values. This feel also gives her song a wider market appeal. People who consume music more casually would enjoy this song, as it’s an easy listen, good for things like commuting and having on in the background. 

These factors lead to “Tender Love” fitting well into the current market. While it may not be an energetic and hectic track that radio chases, it is perfect for playlists, live performances, and sync. The track would fit seamlessly into playlists with more relaxed feels like “Chill Evening Mix” and “Late Night Mix”. This is evident as it features in the Spotify made playlist “Common Thread”, alongside artists such as Tems and Joy Crookes. This playlisting pathway is a great way of getting discovered and gaining attention. This song works well live as the stripped back sound creates a sense of intimacy and is easily translatable to live performance, in the upcoming stage of her career this is effective and she is and will be performing in smaller venues, where connection to your audience matters. Within sync, there is high potential for use in more sincere and emotional scenes in films and TV, as well as the song being fit for Adverts and Promotion due to its easy listenability. 

Overall, the track ’tender love’ is a relaxed yet emotional song, that highlights her voice well and fits perfectly within her brand identity. It has high market appeal in a variety of manners, and works with the rest of her discography. 


The second song I am analysing from Izzy Withers is “Lemons and limes”. This song was released in 2025 as a single, and later appeared as the 4th track on her debut E.P “Freckleface”. Similarly to the last track, this song is a tasteful mixture of R&B and bedroom pop. However, Lemons & Limes has a more pushing feel, within the instrumentation, vocals, and songwriting.

The tempo is mid-paced, giving this song more momentum and power while still remaining intimate. The mood of the song is bittersweet and reminiscent. The rhythmic aspects of this song are slightly more driving and active, which helps to push the mood of the song. Similar to Tender love, the melodies are strong and recurring, while avoiding being repetitive. Like the first track, this helps the listener to digest the song with more ease, making it more memorable, and something you can sing a long to. Her vocals feel driving within the piece, delivered with slightly more power and purpose, but still overall feeling relaxed and flowing. The instrumentation is thick and more dynamic providing movement within the track. The vocals stay front and centre, the instrumentation doing a good job of supporting while remaining not overbearing. This is a consistent artistic choice throughout Izzy Withers’ music, which works well as she has a unique and amazing voice. In terms of market alignment the track resonates with the same main demographic while also hitting a slightly different audience. Fans of bedroom/indie pop as well as soul and R&B are the core audience of this song.

The production blends elements from each genre creating a piece that resonates with fans across the board. The strong storytelling in the song attracts a new fanbase of listeners drawn to strong songwriting and more emotional music. Having a similar target demographic as the first song helps to reward listeners who explore her catalogue, and encourages people to become fans of her as an artist rather than one off listeners. The current market fit is nearly exactly the same as tender love. It has a focus on streaming over radio play, play listing, live performance, and a strong sync potential. This song fits well with playlists similar to the last track, as well as more genre specific playlists: R&B playlists and bedroom pop playlists. On top of this due to the strong thematic storytelling in the song, it would be a good fit for more emotional or narrative driven playlists. In a live set, this song works well, offering contrast to a lot of softer music, keeping the audience engaged, while staying in conjunction with her sonic identity. This piece has a very large potential in sync due the narrative, movies with similar themes like coming of age, relationship tension, or general emotion turmoil would be greatly impacted by using lemons & limes. The song remains ambiguous to specifics within the story, which helps make it even more sync friendly as it could be used in a variety of scenarios. Overall, the song carries a strong story and mood, while keeping Izzy Withers’ iconic music style. It has wide market appeal, specifically in sync, and is another very strong piece in her discography.


The last Izzy Withers I’m dissecting is “Freckleface”, the title song from the same 2025 E.P as Lemons & Limes. Freckleface sits in the same genres as the two previous tracks (R&B and bedroom pop), but carries more charm and personality. Where the two other tracks focused on love and relationships, freckle face is Izzy Withers accepting her identity and finding herself. Similarly to lemons and limes, this song has a focus on her songwriting and story telling. The tempo is mid paced and as a whole the song feels lighter, differentiating itself from the previous two tracks.

The mood is warmer, and promotes self affection in a playful yet reflective manner. The sound is easy and familiar, creating an optimistic energy. The rhythm is almost uplifting, driving the piece with more intricate drum fills throughout keeping the track interesting. The vocal delivery shows her character well, which helps to emphasise the themes of identity and self discovery. She carries a relaxed yet confident tone. The instrumentation is more similar to the first track tender love. It is minimal but the arrangement still brings a certain brightness, supporting the vocal strongly. The song has a lot of space, making it feel open and authentic. The market alignment of this song fits with the last two, further emphasising her strong sonic identity. Fans of R&B and bedroom pop will find this track similarly engaging. Something this song does well is attract an audience that relates to Izzy Withers as a personality. People that feel they relate to her identity are attracted to this song and she presents herself openly, reflecting on her struggles and getting past them. Similarly to my second track, freckle face also attracts fans of story telling and narratives. It is a strong entry point for her as an artist, as it gives first time listeners a clear image of her as a personality, as well as being a very relatable song to her target demographic. For these reasons this track performs well in the current music market. Alongside the prior pieces of music, this song fits well for playlisting. In addition to genre specific playlists this song would blend well within feel good and uplifting playlists. Live, this song does well in a set as a personality piece, creating a strong, authentic, and honest connection with her audience. In sync this song would fit well within movies or TV, specifically in coming of age scenes, or scenes where someone is discovering their identity and gaining self worth. The warmth within the song makes it generally sync friendly and it has a lot of usability. Freckleface shows Izzy Withers as a person, making it an authentic and relatable tack, which is good to gain a strong fanbase. It has clear artistic intent and displays her emotions well, while remaining engaging musically.

These three songs show Izzy withers is a well rounded artist that has a clear and strong brand identity. They all tackle different themes showing a large range in songwriting ability, and adaptability to changing markets. 

Development plan

The first stage of my development plan for Izzy Withers would be artistic development. She has a strong brand and sonic identity, so this part of development doesn’t require a large amount of work, but rather refinement.  Her sound is refined and she has unique genre positioning. I would utilise and concrete this with more releases. I would use the waterfall method, in order to give each song time to be promoted and garner listens. This creates consistent content both in the music and using/promoting the music with socials, that will help her strong branding to continue reaching her fans, and concrete her image. Building her repertoire also means when first time listeners explore her as an artist, her sound and identity is made apparent through consistency. In terms of hard skills within her music, her vocals do not have to be developed. She has a unique voice and uses it well, conveying a lot of emotion in every song. One element I would develop in her skillset is performance. Working with her on stage movement, interaction, and pertaining a consistent performance routine will help her to further her already strong image and make her more marketable.

The second factor I would look at in her development is production and recording strategies. Looking to get her working with top producers who can work with her to explore and expand sonically, while helping to dial in her consistent theming. I would also consider implementing collaborations with other artists in the same scenes as her. This would be beneficial for exposure to her target demographic, as well as keeping fans she already has interested and engaged. The collaboration is a very actionable goal as there is a large network of upcoming artists in R&B and Bedroom pop that have interest in collaboration. Finding a top producer to help develop Izzy Withers long term could be more complicated, as with an emerging artist with no industry backing, the budget will be low.

In terms of further developing her audience and community Izzy Withers could do a plethora of things. For one, she would benefit from continuing to build a fanbase around her social media. One manner she could do this is by looking into brand collaborations. Collaborating with brands that are relevant with her target audience could help her gain exposure. For example, collaborating with clothing brands that are popular with teenagers in the UK. upcoming and medium sized clothing brands such as Poser, and Derchutze would be great for this as they are more likely to work with a smaller artist. As her lifestyle content is part of her current social media strategy, playing into this would prove valuable while not taking away her authenticity and artistry. Another method I would unitise is posting performance content. This is something Izzy Withers does not currently do, but would work well in order to create a buzz around going to see her, and translating her strong following into paying fans. 

The limitations to the development process with Izzy withers are budget, and a lack of leverage due to her smaller following. As she is a new and upcoming artist her budget will be small as she hasn’t had the chance to effectively translate viewers into paying and supporting fans. As well as this she is unsigned to a record label, which will mean no financial backing for campaigns and general development. In order to mitigate this limitation I have focused on more collaborations and social media strategies within my development plan, as these do not require a large budget. However the second limitation, a lack of leverage, could impact this and make it more difficult. Due to her smaller following, larger collaborators both in the form of other artists and brands may be more sceptical to work with her.

Conclusion

In conclusion Izzy withers is a unique and genre breaking artist. Her music repertoire is already strong, highlighting her impressive songwriting and consistent sonic identity. Her current market appeal is strong, and she already does well to capitalise on this, and with my development plan could explode onto the scene. She has a strong authentic feel in both her music and her branding which is a great foundation to an artist. If my development plan is successful it would hopefully push her into the next stage of her career, amassing a larger following who actively support her music.
