This Electronic Press Kit (EPK) presents a coordinated overview of my dual role as an artist and producer/engineer. Whilst also professionally separating each role to showcase my skills. I will also talk about visual aspects such as industry standard pictures, cover art, logos fonts, artistic and commercial approach including branding, style choices and genre-specific positioning. Finally, legal and professional considerations, such as rights to the media, permissions for testimonials, brand consistency and tone. Together, these elements position me to attract labels, promoters, fellow artists, and fans with a memorable, industry‑ready presentation.
The primary goal was to reach a broader audience of up-and-coming artists, labels, promoters and fan base to provide a clear and professional overview of my creativity as an artist and professionalism as a producer/engineer during collaborative work. Additionally, the site highlights my production capabilities through featured collaborations with different artists and genres, demonstrating my versatility as well as potential for future development.
When deciding on branding choices, I stayed consistent with the aesthetic already created on my social media pages and streaming platforms to show professionalism with consistent visuals and fonts. I used a cohesive colour scheme, similar style images, and font styles on social media as well as the EPK that reflects my artistic style and the tone of my music. This influence comes from Dochii, an artist who consistently showcases a specific aesthetic on both her website and social media, assisting her when building a loyal fanbase. “Crafting a concise and authentic bio helps convey your artistic identity effectively to industry professionals” (PRS for Music, 2019). These elements unified create an aesthetic that reinforces my brand, making it easier for labels, promoters and fans to not only connect with me but also help to remember my work and style. The visuals also align with the genres I create as an artist, using bold imagery, a clean layout inspired by modernised urban street graffiti that resonates with the city culture I targeted, while maintaining originality.
For artists, it not only highlights me as a reliable producer and audio engineer but also someone who can help shape and elevate their artistic capabilities through the tracks shown on the website. Over and above that, it introduces the vision for my future music production label, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and artistic partnerships and branding. “An EPK serves as a comprehensive tool to present your music and brand to potential collaborators and the press” (Cyber PR Music, 2023). For personal fans, it offers an insight into my sound, aesthetic, and artistic journey, building a deeper connection to current fans through visuals, music and storytelling.
My target market primarily consists of fans of hip-hop, rap, and RnB music when it comes to releasing my tracks. However, as well as releasing my music and trying to build my fan base, working with artists for their projects and releases is also something I want to do as an engineer/producer. To target both audiences, I had two sections allowing me to present myself as an artist producing hip-hop and rap (LJParker) and an engineer/producer producing a wide range of genres to connect with not only music lovers but also with up-and-coming talent looking for creative partnerships and reliable audio engineering support (Parker Labels).
Finding the right balance between marketing myself as both an artist and producer, whilst maintaining creativity and marketability, has been crucial to shaping my artistic outlook and the structure of my EPK. I found vast importance in staying consistent with aesthetic and authenticity in my sound and visualisation within my website and social media, which draws from personal experiences and cultural influences, shaping music that feels expressive visually. Also, staying mindful of the industry I work in by using high quality audio, clear branding and polished visuals to meet the standard of industry professionals, labels and promoters. “Including high-quality visuals and organized content in your EPK enhances its appeal to labels and promoters” (Storydoc, 2025). My collaborative projects also reflect this balance, offering unique, artist-focused production that fits a commercial appeal and personal artistic expression. This dual focus allows me to express creativity while building a professional presence that attracts collaborators while engaging fans and opening new opportunities.
When writing about myself, I wrote in the third person to help the site feel more professional, helping it stand out more to potential promoters and labels. I also chose two tracks that represent my artistry and production in various talents. For example, for one, I made it at home from start to finish with many people saying it sounds studio professional. This is a good way to showcase my skills and ability to work comfortably in many places, as I also produced the other one in an industry standard studio.
I selected specific media content, such as aesthetically matching photos, audio samples and song cover art, to reflect my identity as both an artist and audio engineer. Including both original tracks, a cover and a band original showcases the quality of my work across a wider spectrum. By offering engaging and high-quality media, I aim to quickly capture attention and leave a lasting impression that represents both my creativity and professionalism. To expand on the professionalism, it was just as important to add testimonials and third-party validation from talented musicians for proof that my work has other people’s approval when working with them.
When deciding what sites to use, BeatStars was prioritised as I wanted to promote it more at this point in my career as more of a starting point to earn money on the side. Instagram acts as a visual hub for my upcoming releases, keeping fans and collaborators regularly updated and helping cement the overall personal branding a
aesthetics provided in the EPK. Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music are all included as they are my 3 prioritised streaming platforms due to the large number of users and professional services. SoundCloud is an important mention due to the accessibility and popular success it provides for emerging artists, making it perfect to share unreleased or experimental tracks. Together, these platforms each offer valuable assets for a balanced, professional, creative output and audience interaction.
Legal considerations were also important to creating this EPK, as it ensures all content is used ethically and legally. I confirmed copyright and ownership for each element. Such as music tracks, artwork and visuals were mine and available to use before including them. This was rather simple, all the artwork, logos and images had been created by me, meaning no legal paperwork was required to avoid disputes. Permissions were also obtained for quotes and reviews left by collaborators, verifying that my testimonials are used with full consent. For cover songs, I noted the requirement for mechanical licences (MCPS) when releasing a cover. “Do you need permission to cover a song? No. But if you plan on releasing a cover song, you’ll need to make sure it’s properly licensed.” (Bradbury, W, 2024).
In summary, this EPK encapsulates my duality as an artist (LJParker) rooted in hip-hop, rap and R&B, as well as a producer/engineer who shows passion and dedication to elevating other artists’ work. Through consistent branding and aesthetically pleasing images, artwork and logos, high-quality media and careful legal clearance, all contribute to a professional industry standard presentation that highlights original creativity and commercial viability. I look forward to developing further in my artistic and production skills and working hard to get more collaborative work to further improve my portfolio, getting me more references and possibly labels and promoters through this comprehensive press kit.
Group work:
Over the course of a few weeks, we held regular group meeting where we shared ideas and evaluated each other’s progress. In our first group session, we explored the overall purpose of an EPJ and how they function as a tool to market an artist. We spoke about the professional quality of high-level EPK’s and the different aspects they use. We discussed the likes of Billie Eilish and Doechii’s EPKs. We noticed that these artists used a simplistic style and didn’t have much detail into information about themselves. This is likely due to their established status. This opened the discussion to looking into smaller artists, allowing us to realise, emerging artists need to be more informative in their EPK’s.
The second meeting mainly focused on branding and design choices. We each discussed the genres we work in, and the tonal and visual aspects required for everyone’s work. Daisy and Jake both suggested different points when discussing my EP. Jake suggested I keep it slick with a dark blue background and white fonts to stay professional and show the high standard I work in as a producer. However, Daisy suggested I use bright and vibrant colours to catch people attention. After this taking this feedback i decided to combine both opinions and use the bright vibrancy with neon colours as well as dark background creating a nice contrast between creativity and professionalism.
