Synth Synthesis:
The main synth plugin I used was Dune 3. Here are some notes on how I created some of the sounds I was working with within this plugin.
Synth Waveforms
Within one Dune 3 VST, I experimented with 4 different synth waveforms for my driving arp. The end goal was to create a scary, repetitive sound, reminiscent of a leitmotif from a horror movie (e.g. the one in Jaws)

1: Sawtooth wave with an upwards ramp, done to give a piercing, gritty-sounding driving force to my arp.
2: Pulse wave that I used to give the sound some bounce, as I felt playing with velocities within the arp would make the sound more interesting
3: Triangle wave that I added for the same reason as the pulse wave, spiking in the same way (up then down) as to not cancel out the effects of the pulse wave
4: Noise wave preset, as I wanted to experiment with a static-y background sound. This is quieter than the other sounds as is used to support the driving arp
Layered Synths
These are 2 synths I layered together, as I liked the individual sounds they produced, but found that they were both lacking. I put them together to create a strong lead for the chorus section of my project.

Low-End Cut in Dune 3 EQ
To make more space for the bass and drums in the 2nd Chorus, added a low-end cut into the EQ within the effects rack of one of the Dune 3 VSTS I used.

Synth Chop
(Done within the piano roll)
Chopped the synth at the end of the section to give it a glitch-like sound. I did this through the piano roll instead of the Dune 3 plugin as I found it easier to control than using an LFO and automation, however I have also used automation for synths for other parts of the project.
