Synthesis process evidence
For my synthesis elements of this assignment i drew inspiration from many different places and background genres to create my piece. for example, for both the ‘synth lead’ and the ‘buzz lead’ (both pictured below) i drew inspiration from the popular hip hop band ‘Kneecap’ and specifically attempted to create a somewhat less aggressive version of their synth sound on the song ‘Sick in the head’. i did this by combining two waveforms on each synth to allow me to capture and aggressive, choppy sound, i also tunes down one of the inputs by 6 cents to make the synth feel wider and less flat.

I wanted the genre of this track to feel like a synth pop track combined with synthesised video game music. this usually features multiple different synths with repeating motifs and simple yet poppy sounding drums. i wanted my synths and process to fit well contextually into my genre of choice, one of the ways i achieved this was with two distinct sections based on mood, akin to how music will shift during a video games story. one of the ways i cemented this mood shift was by incorporating a third synth into the second section.

for this synth i used a very muted and tight sound, combining this with a very fast arpeggiator i was able to create a bed for other synths to add on top, while staying consistent with low arpeggiated root chords. it also created a bridge section in the second half of the track allowing for a nice buildup and release before the outro.
i also used a couple of alchemy synth presets for some of he background and additional elements, for example the 808 Bass, background arpeggios and background keys prevalent in the second half of the song

i overall structured the song to prop up and emphasise the lead synth and buzz synth, allowing for them to come in and out of the track repeatedly, showcasing their powerful sounds.
