5 minute warm up

by

This video shows my physical warm-up in preparation for dance, including cardio-vascular and stretching exercises to ensure I don’t pull any muscles. I found the neck and shoulder rolls especially helpful as I often hold tension in my neck and upper back which means I tend to hunch my shoulders when dancing. However, this exercise helped me to release any tension in my neck and upper back muscles, allowing me to move with more fluidity and better posture. Shakeel gave me feedback after the leap exercise saying my arms weren’t held upright or supported enough in jazz position and I need to use my arms to help me gain more height in my split leaps. In the future, I aim to improve my upper body alignment by practicing spinal rolls and cat camel stretches for 5 minutes everyday, to strengthen my lateral muscles.
